 About Quartz

Quartz is one of the main rock-forming minerals, the main component is SiO 2, colorless and transparent, often containing a small amount of impurities, and become translucent or opaque crystals, hard texture, Mohs hardness is 7.
Quartz is a kind of mineral resources with very stable physical and chemical properties, and the crystal belongs to the oxide mineral of the tripartite crystal system. Quartz blocks, also known as silica, are mainly raw materials for the production of quartz sand (also known as silica sand).


About Quartz Sand

Quartz sand is a hard, wear-resistant, chemically stable silicate mineral, its main mineral composition is SiO2. Quartz sand in a variety of colors often milky white, colorless, gray. Hardness is 7, brittle, conchoidal fracture. Grease luster, density of 2.65 g/cm ³, its chemical, thermal and mechanical properties have obvious anisotropy. Insoluble in acid, slightly soluble in KOH solution, melting point 1750℃.

Classification of Quartz Sand

Quartz sand according to quality can be divided into ordinary quartz sand, refined quartz sand, high purity quartz sand, molten quartz sand:
1. Ordinary Quartz Sand
SiO2≥90~99%, FeO ≤0.06~0.02%, refractoriness 1750~1800℃. The appearance is partially large particles, with yellow skin cyst on the surface. Grain size range 5~220 mesh, can be produced according to user requirements.
2. Refined Quartz Sand
SiO2≥99~99.5%, Fe2O3≤0.02~0.015%. Select high quality ore for complex processing. Particle size range of 5~480 mesh, can be produced according to user requirements, the appearance of white or crystalline.
3.High Purity Quartz Sand
SiO2≥99.5~99.9%, FeO≤0.005%. It is made of 1~3 grade natural crystal stone and high-quality natural stone, carefully selected and finely processed. The particle size ranges from 1~0.5mm, 0.5~0.1mm, 0.1~0.01mm, 0.01~0.005mm.
4.Molten Quartz Sand
Chemical composition: SiO2:99.9~99.99%. Fe2O3:10PPM~25PPM. Max Li2O content: 1~2PPM. Max Al2O3 content: 20~30PPM. Max K2O content: 20~25PPM. Max Na2O content: 10~20PPM.

The Main Use of Quartz Sand

Quartz crushing and grinding process

Quartz powder is made of pure quartz by crushing, sorting, cleaning, acid treatment, high temperature melting, medium crushing, fine grinding, grading, iron removal and other processes to meet the requirements of the powder. Common quartz powder has 150 mesh, 200 mesh, 325 mesh, 400 mesh, 600 mesh, 1500 mesh, 2000 mesh.
The process of quartz sand crushing production line is:Stock binVibrating feeder Jaw crusher (Coarse crushing) → cone crusher (secondary processing) → Vibrating screen → Finished product (multi-layer vibrating screen can be separated from finished products of different particle sizes).
The process of quartz sand grinding production line is roughly as follows:

Products with fineness less than 120 are generally called quartz sand, and products with fineness greater than 120 are called quartz powder (refined quartz sand).
